Calm Before the Storm

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, but I couldn't because of the terrible connection, so I gave up ...

* * *

It's late, I know. And although I should really be studying for the hell day this Friday, I must admit, I have been slacking off quite a lot. I haven't really studied much since the last paper last Wednesday. It feels as if I'm free but in actual fact, I know I'm not. I'm so easily deceived by myself when it comes to freedom and holidays. Right now, I just hope all this "resting" will not affect my exam results because I really need them to go to Edinburgh (and send those postcards to Monash!). What can I say, calm before a storm?

Anyway, nothing much is up lately. I guess I just wanted to tell the world I'm still alive and well before I go to sleep tonight. Aiming to finish the Baileys Irish Cream in the kitchen as soon as my exams end in 2 weeks ... or maybe I shouldn't wait =P

Newcastle has just been relegated as the 3 struggling teams, Sunderland, Hull City and the aforementioned all lost to Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa respectively, which was really a battle of titans versus babies. It's sad to see Newcastle go because they were quite a good team last time. The worst part of all is that the only goal in the whole game was an own goal by Damien Duff! I wonder what happened to the teams that used to be strong. Of all the teams I used to regard as strong, only Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are playing well. What happened to Blackburn or Newcastle? I guess they're just another casualty of time.

And when it all came down to the end, it really didn't matter whether Manchester United played a weakened team or not. They played a fairly well equiped second team with no first team players at all, including all the substitutes they made, against Hull City's full first team squad (I'd assume they'll play their first team as this is the final relegation battle) and they still won 1-0! So, who's gonna sue, huh?

"Monash Does Not Accept International Students ..."

"WHAT?"

Is that your first reaction?

Michelle told me that, and although it wasn't such a shock to me because both my cousin and I got rejected already without even looking at our ISAT scores, despite the both of us having straight As and all. Nevertheless, I still think it's pretty outrageous how they actually implemented it without a notice or anything! I mean, come on! Even University of Melbourne gave some sort of notice when they were going to implement their postgraduate medicine program and abolish their undergraduate counterpart! Could you have at least told me that in advanced instead of eating up my A$100 and then tell me that I'm rejected only for me to find out that the only reason why is because you are no longer accepting international students a few weeks later through a classmate who so coincidentally went to the IDP Australian University Fair which I have been TWICE this year and was reluctant to go for this one despite being spammed TWICE by some idiot who just doesn't get the idea that I would go if I wanted to, so just stop wasting your credit just because your company is reimbursing you, and yet, not heard or told of such crap? *Takes in a deep breath* Thank you so much, Monash! When I get into Edinburgh, I'm so going to send you postcards of the castles and beautiful scenes there and make sure they make it to the dean of medicine!

It's discrimination but what can I do? I'm quite sure I can beat a whole bunch of Australians into being better doctors, both academically and in practice in the future. So to the superbly hopeful Malaysians who dream of applying for Monash just because it offers it's 5 year program and missed the UK applications for any reason under the sun, here's a piece of advice: Stop wasting your time on a university that doesn't appreciate good students and start looking for better ones.

ISAT

I know it's been long, believe me. I had to do the waiting, so I know. After 2 months and 4 days, my ISAT results are finally out! And ACER even wrote on their website:"Results are available approximately two weeks after the test. However, this will be longer for some of the first sittings in the year". You did tell me it was longer than 2 weeks, you just didn't tell me it would take up to 9 weeks! I wonder why I even rushed to register so early and sit for it in such a hurry! But whatever it is, I know statistics is difficult and inaccurate if you have a small sample space, which is exactly why first sittings cannot get their results fast, so I willingly forgive you. =)

I can't say that I'm overwhelmed because still think I could've done better than this, but overall, I'm quite satisfied. I checked it on Thaddeus' laptop because it was right after Physics 5 and I was very anxious to know the results. So, for those who have been waiting for as long as I have or have just come to know that I actually sat for ISAT, here it is!

Here's to the 89% of candidates that I beat! And to the 11% who beat me, congrats! Hope you all get into the universities you apply for =)

Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0?

Yay! I've discovered something new with Chloe! I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0! And although I don't really know how the heck to use it yet. I am already amaze at what it can do. Call me a tech-loser or anything along those lines but I'm loving it!

Original picture

PIMPED!

PIMPED AGAIN! (click to enlarge, seriously!)

Don't you just love what you can discover with new things?

Anyway, it's been 2 exams days into the finals and so far, I'd think the papers came out easier than expected. Now I'm really worried for the "hell days", which all carry the main papers. Looks like I'll have to get down and dirty with studying. I hope it's all smooth sailing for me from now. I just really really hope to get this done with so that I can enjoy myself!

Wish Me Luck!

It's the night before my finals and somehow, I'm still quite wide awake. It's so unfair that I have to endure this sort of thing again! At least tomorrow is an afternoon paper so I don't have to panic about waking up late and stuff like that.

Anyway, looking back, these 5 months has passed really quickly. And I believe 5 months ago, I wouldn't believe that I would ever reach this day. This is the final stretch, but it's really stretching me out. 1 finals, 6 days of exams, 8 papers and 3 weeks left. Wish me luck =S ...

Manchester United BPL Champions!

Everybody in the house say WHAT?
*WHAT!*

To all Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Everton, etc. fans (Newcastle, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion not included because they're too busy fighting to stay away from relegation), I'm sorry you're in the wrong blog to read this post ...

Look who's lifting the cup! Is it a Liverpool player? No ... *smiles* Is it a Chelsea player? No ... *chortles* Is it an Arsenal player? No ... *laughs* It's a Manchester United player!

Yes, Manchester United has finally lifted the Barclays Premier League cup. And completes their BPL hattrick stint and triple titles for the year. The home match agains Arsenal ended with a 0-0 draw, but that was all that was needed to gain the title. The whole match was slow and there were no goals, nor were there any serious attempts to win for either side. Cristiano Ronaldo came closest with his free kick, which was just a few feet shy of the goal. Even Fabianski was helpless seeing the ball float that graciously!

Anyway, now that the Primier League is done with, I'm looking forward to Manchester United's triumph in the Champion's League. Still feeling regretful they cannot complete the quintuple, but a quadruple's good enough. =)

I guess in the stress of studying for the exams, someone did try to make my day by letting Manchester United grab the cup ...

P.S. Ruey-yi, maybe next time =P ...

Losing My Hair

Enjoy the look of this hair while you still can folks! I'm going to cut it tomorrow. Long hair has really been quite a deterent to studying ...

I've finished watching Fate/Stay Night! I know I planned to watch it really slowly and enjoy it, but I found that I couldn't study with it not finished. So thanks, T'ng Choong, for making me lose a few days' worth of studying! I know I shouldn't blame you, but I can't really get around to blaming myself, so you'll have to be my scapegoat XD ...

My Very Last Day In Class

And so, my days in Taylor's as a CAL student ends today. It was really fun as we snapped tonnes of photos and some of our lecturers gave us a day off. I'll try to get the pictures as soon as possible and post them all up because I'm really sure there were some really funny pictures.

The last day started revolving around money, tonnes of it!

Prom money! Personally, I haven't seen this much money in so long!!

See Yee Won, I'm supporting your prom here! That's 2 table's worth of money there ...

Tallest and shortest!

After our seemingly short day, 21 of us went to Sunway Pyramid for a buffet in Shogun. I heard it's okay, but I guess it doesn't really matter when you're paying only about RM25 per head. We had 50% discount today and a few of us ate our stomachs out. The only problem that arose is that when I entered the restaurant, it seemed to have a really wide range of food, but it turned out that only a few of them are worth eating and soon, I ran out of choices. Nevertheless, I'm glad I had that experience.

Oh, another really silly thing happened. We found a cockroach while having lunch at Shogun! Quite a tiny one actually, only about 2 cm long. Some of us were shocked, some of us tried to catch it, some of us wanted to keep it was a pet, some of us decided to play with it, some of us shook it in the container really hard and some of us just liked to watch it turn turtle and try to wriggle its way upright. Thankfully, we got Kai Hsien and Li En to do the deliberation with the people in-charge for a chance to get us some form of compensation. At first, we only got a one-head discount, but after much discussion and stuff, we managed a two-head discount. We actually argued that due to the cockroach, we lost our appetite and when the manager came, I was still gobbling down my peppermint ice-cream with chocolate sauce from the chocolate fountain. In the end, one tiny cockroach was worth roughly RM50. Way to go, thinking skills experts!

Ruey-yi's art! No idea what it is, but it's nice!

My art! It's not really that nicely done though ...

The result from my whole experience in Shogun is that I wouldn't really recommend it. Not because of the fact that you might meet another little insect friend that might be bigger than the one we found (because hopefully, they'd be on a better lookout for their cleanliness) but because over all, the food wasn't really the best of quality and you run out of choices fast. However, if you really just eat in bulk, why not try it ...

And tomorrow is Chee Hong's birthday, so we treated him to the buffet! So, happy birthday Chee Hong! Hope you enjoyed your birthday present!!

And to all PM10-ers, thanks for being more than the best bunch of college classmates I could wish for! Good luck with your future undertakings and God bless!

P.S. Too bad T'ng Choong couldn't go! Haha ... Sad IELTS kid! I told you to take your IELTS earlier right? See what happens when you don't listen to me? =P

Last Week of CAL!

This is the last week of college! Seriously!! My pre-university days are finally done and it's going to be another change of institutions really soon. Only drawback is that this time, I've only been in Taylor's for one and a half years and not the usual five or six years. It feels too fast! I don't really want to let go yet ... I'm only starting to have fun =(

After this week, it's one week of study break and finally three weeks of finals. Then, I'm free for a few months! It all seems too fast. I remember a blink of an eye ago, I was telling myself to hold on and make it through the final six months and now, it's a little more than a month away ... Hope I don't screw this up ...

Two more days, just two more days ...

X-Men Origins: Wolverine!

As it may seem like a terribly unsuitable time to watch a movie as I, along with the rest of PM10 is supposed to be studying super hard to get "Top in the World", which for me is kind of unlikely, I went to Sunway Pyramid with a bunch of friends and classmates to watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And I have to say, it was GREAT! I'm a normal fan of X-Men but this movie totally rocked me off my shoes. In the end, it really did tell the story of how Wolverine came about. The only drawback was that this movie felt too short, like all nice movies. I wished it could be longer!
Then again, I guess T'ng Choong was right when he said that our class seems to be the only class that's still very much relaxed ...

Anyway, Hell Days are getting closer and closer. Better start studying =s

Damn, I wish I had those claws!

Exam Timetable

I got my final exam timetable yesterday, along with the time and all the locations. It seems that some people are out of their minds! It's hard to believe, but paper 4 for Chemistry and Physics are on the same day! I know I have been forewarned about this, but what makes it worse is that paper 4 for Biology and paper 3 for Mathematics are on the same day as well! Just in case you don't realise how bad that is, these are the 4 toughest and most demanding papers in the whole finals and probably the whole A Levels. I'm officially labelling these days "Hell Days"!

And when it came to the smaller papers, they spaced it out SO wide that the exam span is 3 weeks eventhough I'm only taking 8 papers. Unreasonably irritating =S ... But I guess there are pros and cons to all of these. I'll be having more time to relax and unwind, and play ROSE online, if the time permits, while nonchalantly waiting for the next paper to start. Then again, I'll be all panicky and stressed for the Hell Days. I already get this exam adrenaline rushes even when the papers are not on the same day, but having them together on Hell Days will just twice the stress, half the sleep, twice the tension, twice the ... HELL!

Well, this is the last road for me, better make the best of it. Start studying, ace it and move on to university and have a better life there (Yeah! Easier said than done!) ... At the moment, I really hope I make it there ...
